Piney Hills Harmony Board of Directors

Piney Hills Harmony Chorus thrives because of the energy and style of the people who have stepped up to lead. Shown below are a few of the people who make our chorus rock. Above, they are pictured at the May 2011 installation service, which centered around a Cinco de Mayo theme. Veteran member Sallie Rose Hollis, center, conducted the ceremony and presented each board member with a maraca.

Carol Ogle - President

Carol Ogle first learned about the wonderful world of barbershop singing way back in 1984 when she met a world renowned men's quartet champion named Mo Rector. At Mo's encouragement she joined a new chapter of Sweet Adelines in New Braunfels, TX, and quickly became hooked on the chord-ringing harmonies.  Carol moved to Monroe, LA, in 2000 after her daughter had twin boys.  She joined the Piney Hills chapter in 2002 and has been involved in almost every aspect of the chorus, serving as a board member, section leader, show chairman and now as president.  She has also been a dual member with the Top of the Rock chorus in Little Rock and has twice competed with them on the international level.

Jerri Mahoney - Vice-President

Jerri "Chica Cheerleader" Mahoney is Piney Hills' own one-woman spirit booster!  She has been a a member since 2004 and served several terms on the Board, presently as vice-president. She gets the "longest drive" award by coming from Shreveport every week.  Jerri publishes our newsletter, "Harmony Notes," and sends us a new cheer every week before rehearsal to get us rev'ed up.  She is the image of a big spirt coming in her 5' tall package!

Christine Brady - Secretary

Chris Brady moved to Louisiana from southern California a few years ago.  She came to visit our chorus after seeing our "Members Wanted - Free Vocal Lessons" articles in the local paper.  What a treasure for us!  Chris immediately began growing and learning the craft of barbershop singing, even though she had never sung before.  We wish we could clone about 10 more members just like her!  Chris currently serves as our secretary and by some miracle (and her excellent abilities) is able to capture all the things we talk about in board meetings,  put them into words that make sense, and send them out to the members.  She is a tremendous asset to PHHC!

Rebecca McNeill - Treasurer

Rebecca joined our chorus in 2006 after being recruited by Carol at their church.  Among her many talents, Rebecca is a former marching band member and is always able to hear the rhythm of a song and help us 'tap it out'.  She has been a great addition to the Board and currently serves as treasurer.  She has brought our records into the modern world of online banking and spreadsheets.  Her two daughters, Caitlin and Keera, are also chorus members.  Caitlin and Rebecca are front row performers.

Teresa Howard

Teresa is a multi-purpose member who is both on our Board and serves our chorus as assistant director.  (See her bio under "Assistant Director.")

Donna Fike

Carol Ogle struck up a conversation with Donna Fike in the nail salon one day back in 2004, where they found that they had much in common.  Both had twin grandsons, both were called "Nonna" by their grandchildren, and best of all, they both loved to sing.  Carol invited Donna to rehearsal that week, and all were astounded to hear Donna's beauitful high tenor voice floating down from the top row of the risers.  Talk about a lucky find!  Donna has been an involved, active member, serving on the board, costume, and fundraising committees, and serving as a major coordinator of our fundraising Harmony Bazaar booth at regional competition each year.  She has also been a dual member of the Top of the Rock Chorus and has competed with them twice on the international level.

Jean Dunham
Another sparkplug in our chorus is bass section leader, Jean Dunham.  A gospel quartet singer for many years in her church, Jean  puts her entire spirit into her singing, and you just have fun every time you're around her.  Jean is also quite the comedienne and performs in our shows with her great sense of humor and timing.  Jean is the bass for the "Take Four" quartet.

Cindy D
ean
Cindy, our newest board member, was recruited to Piney Hills Harmony by  director Sheila Nugent while they were both teachers at Ruston Elementary. Sheila no longer works at that school, but we're so glad that she DID so that her path could cross with Cindy's! Cindy has much performing experience and a lovely lead voice, both of which we value highly, along with her calm, positive and nurturing demeanor. Welcome aboard the board, Cindy!
